June 2024

This month we're excited to bring you this year's Teaching Initiatives Program 2024 winners and invite you to vote for the People's Choice winner. We're also showcasing the next generation of nurses we're supporting at St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne scholarship.

But first, we put the 'why' into online banking before breaking down 'techy bank' terms into clear and easy to understand 'people speak'.

Turning 'bank' speak to 'people' speak
Have you ever been asked for your bank’s BSB? Or you’re setting up a direct debit or paying a bill and you’re not sure what account number to use. Do you use this account reference number, the S number or your Member number? We know it can be confusing and it’s different from bank to bank.  So, we’ve pulled together the common terms, video guides and infographics for your reference.

If you haven’t dipped your toe in the water yet, we’ve included our new ‘Putting the why into online banking series for you’. Once you have the ‘why’ covered, contact us to register you for Internet Banking and get you started.

How to find our BSB

One of the most searched for information on our website is 'what is your bsb?' So, we thought we'd feature our BSB in this month's eSlate.

Every bank has a BSB (Bank-State-Branch) number and they’re all different.

At Bank First we have one universal BSB to remember - 704191  For easy reference you can find our BSB number on the home page of our website.
To 'S' or not to 'S'
Why do we have letters in our account numbers? It’s a throwback to when we first started as a credit union in the early 1970s. ‘S, I, L’ and the numbers following are internal Bank First account type identifiers. Your primary transaction account is referred to as your ‘S1 account’.

We know what you’re talking about, but other banks won’t. Don't use your ‘S’, ‘I’ or ‘L’ numbers when giving your bank details to set up direct debits.
Congratulations to our 2024 TIP winners
